iFace (rugged) tablet won't turn on?

iFace wont turn on?

A tablet device not powering on is generally due to the battery having low or no charge.

Complete the below checklist to determine whether the vehicle's charger needs replacing, or if the device itself needs to be sent back to the Transport team in Melbourne.

  • Check the vehicle multi-pin charging connection isn’t loose.
  • Check to see if any pins on the cradle are bent/damaged/worn.
  • Ensure that the tablet is firmly attached to the cradle and vehicle ignition is on.
  • Hold the power button and volume up button at the same time for a few seconds.
  • Perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button for roughly 45 seconds (ignore any prompts on the screen to power-off/restart). The unit may turn back on, but if it does not, it will need to be charged for around 30 minutes, then try turning it back on.

Please note: iFace’s require ignition power to charge, and each device has a built in function to turn itself off if it has not received power in 35 minutes.

If the above has been checked off and iFace won’t turn on, please complete next steps to confirm if there is a charging/battery issue.

iFace power issue?

  • Try charging the unit in another vehicle, using the other vehicle's charger and cradle– this will tell us that there is an issue with the vehicles hardware.

Tip: make sure you return the iFace back to the original vehicle.

  • If the iFace charges, remove the backing cradle from the iFace and use the other vehicles cradle - If it charges, let us know & we will send you a new cradle.
  • If you’re unable to charge in another vehicle, there are two mini USB charging ports on the iFace and cradle. Remove both the iFace and Cradle from the vehicle and charge on 240v in the office. Tip: will require an older style USB charger connection.

* Please keep in mind that mobile technicians do not fix tablet devices - Faulty iFaces must come back to the Transport team.
